WordPress Quick Tips

The User Interface

The dashboard is the main page of the WordPress admin panel. The image below should help you get to grips with it.

Update your profile

Click here to be taken to the profile section where you can change your password, personal details, and some other miscellaneous stuff. You can also select a Gravatar (‘Globally Recognized Avatar’) to use if you don’t have one already.

For your Gravatar, you can upload an image from your computer, link to an image already hosted on the Internet (e.g. on tinypic or Photobucket), or use the integrated webcam app to take a picture of yourself (assuming you have a webcam of course). If you’re strapped for avatar ideas, why not pick out a Neopets avatar or buddy icon?

Your avatar personalises your comments! Scroll down for an example.

Posting Controls

The standard WordPress writing interface is pretty neat and has almost all the features you’ll ever need (and plenty you’ll never need as well!). The image below should give you a basic overview.

Well… that’s about it! Get posting! 😉
