Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2

Yoho everyone! I’m back making things on PS! 😀 This time it’s for a competition at my favourite site and up and coming game there is a competition to design a fusion between two superheroes (which is basically when two heroes combine their powers). I chose the Invisible Woman form the fantastic four and Storm, from the Xmen.

Allan2Mongolia

June 14, 2008 4 comments

Soon I (shadowbeam_ – Allan) will be leaving for Mongolia, after all the preparation, fundraising, exams and worry of the last year. I can’t wait for my adventure to begin, and to leave the monotony of life behind me – but don’t worry I’ll be back!

I really have to thank a lot of people for supporting me over this year. You might still be wondering what I’ll be getting up to. So here is my proposed itinerary for the next month. Nothing is certain but we hope to achieve something similar

I’m eager to get going and sorry that I will be missing the Altador Cup {‘Mon the Maqs!} but this is a small price to pay for the sites I’m going to see.

Play as hard as you can and maybe I’ll get to see the end!

See all you Underwater Spirits later

Sunday 22 June

Depart from Glasgow Airport, arriving in London Heathrow.

Monday 23 June

Arrive in Beijing Airport, China – where we’ll stay overnight for the last time in a real bed!

Tuesday 24 June

Depart from China and arrive in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Here we’ll be exploring the market, buying supplies for our project and arranging transport to get to the school project.

Thursday 26 June

Arrive at the village of Terelj where our school project is situated. We’ll be camping near the school. One of the needs from the school is restoration and maintenance, for example one of the classrooms has to be stripped and repainted. The school is anticipating our arrival and has planned some events for us like local food display, a sports session and meeting with some families. We plan to teach a lesson about Scotland, and  we’re bringing some equipment for them (apparently the school struggles to find rubbers, so we’re carting over 50 for them)

Tuesday 1 July

We’ll be taking a canoe trip guided by kayaking providers on the river Tuul for a couple of days. During these few days we’ll be camping out on the bank of the river. The majority of time will be spent trekking in the Terelj National Park where we will may be visiting the Gunjiin Sun temple and we will most definitely be taking a day for horse trekking. Afterwards we return to Ulaanbataar to prepare for the next phase of the trip, which is the Gobi Desert.

Tuesday 8 July

The first day of this phase is spent on a day trip to the Baga Gazriin Chuluu Ruins where there are natural mineral water springs and rocky hills. We’ll be spending the night in a traditional Ger (which is a felt tent which the Nomads live in) in an organised camp.

Next we’ll be spending a full day driving trip to Yoliin Am, in the middle of the Gobi Desert. We’ll get to experience the famous ice gorge and July is the best time to visit the natural scenery of ice in the desert.

The next phase is spent visiting the Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes which are the largest sand dunes in Mongolia. Here we will climb the sand dunes and possibly have the chance to ride camels to an Oasis.

Final part of the Gobi Desert phase will be spent exploring an area which is renown  worldwide for the first discovery of dinosaur fossils and bones. Here the only Trex in the world can be found, which is not owned by a museum. All the bones are preserved naturally in the sand and cannot be taken from the Desert.

Saturday 14 July

We might get the chance to take part in the celebrations of the Naadam Festival held yearly in Ulaanbaatar Sports Stadium. The event is very popular with Mongolians who traditionally compete at horse riding, archery and wrestling.

Tuesday 15 July

Depart Ulaanbaatar

Wednesday 16 July

Depart Beijing, and arrive back to the UK. One final flight from London to Glasgow sees me back home!
